Squarespace Announced A New Blog Duplicating Feature

Squarespace made this announcement this week.

They found a solution for a problem that many of us have been complaining about and begging for for a long time.

You can now clone Squarespace blog posts.

Squarespace users who are loyal will probably love the PAGE DIVERSION feature. This is a great way to reduce page production. If you have pages that are similar in layout, page duplication can be especially helpful.

Take, for example:

Three pages may be created for each service.

There is no need to reinvent the wheel when creating those pages.

It's actually a good idea to keep your pages organized in this way. Because your visitors will be navigating your website and need to know how to find the information they are looking for as they go. Your site's information is arranged in a way that makes it difficult for your viewers to think about where they can find it.

It was impossible to duplicate blog posts, events or products before this week. Each time you wrote a new blog post, you had to start over.

Squarespace's new duplication function will make your blogging easier.

You can create a copy from a blog post that has been published previously.

Three reasons are why this is so great:

1 // It reduces the time required to upload a post.

It's easy to set up a post once, then rinse and repeat. It is easier to swap photos, copy and tags, as well as excerpts, categories, descriptions, and thumbnails, than to try to figure out all of this stuff from scratch.

2 // It can help to develop your blog publishing skills.

If you're going to exert the effort to publish on your blog, you may as well infuse each post with SEO goodness--so your content can ripen in the internet sunshine. There are many things to consider, such as breaking up text with subheads and adding tags, spacing content with photography with meta-descriptions, writing blog posts excerpts, and remembering to give each post a thumbnail. One the hardest things my new blogging clients struggle with is remembering all the steps to publishing a post. DUPLICATING a blog post is a great way to create a visual map of all the steps needed to publish a post.

3 // It can make writing easier.

You can make things simple when you have a plan. If you're anything like me, you tend to complicate things if you don't pay attention. Simple & Soulful is much more than a business name. It's a way of life. It's a way of living. A reminder to keep things in when my ideas become overwhelming messes. You can duplicate a well-written post to insert new content in a structure already in place, rather than rambling down the page with loose-goosie abandon.

You can also duplicate products and events.

This means that you can have the same ease and efficiency in your CALENDAR and STORE as with your PHOTO LAYOUTS. That's right. High five!

Today's post is intended to help Squarespace veterans free up time (because time is the ultimate luxurious, right?). And I hope it inspires new Squarespace users to publish more frequently (because fresh content on your blog is so helpful to your business).

P.S. P.S. My services include personalized coaching and technical training for new Squarespace users and business owners who want to improve their content marketing. Staying stuck because you don't know how; procrastinating because it's easier to take another e-course; and avoiding blogging altogether because if-you-don't-look-it-in-the-eyes-maybe-it'll-just-go-away...these are secretly expensive approaches to business. I can help you:)
